CIRCULAR NO.1
FOR THE EIGHTH ASIAN PHYSICS OLYMPIAD
Dear Friends:
We are inviting your country/area to take part in the Eighth Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), which will be held in Shanghai, China during April 21st to 29th, 2007.
This is the first circular sent to you from the Organization Committee of the Eighth Asian Physics Olympiad. We are now in the progress of sending out the official invitation to the participating teams. We therefore ask you to inform us the mailing information of your Minister of Education or other officer in charge. We need to have his/her exact name, title, and address. Would you please complete the following form of requested information and return it to me (preferably by e-mail) as soon as possible? (Please no later than the end of October, 2006 ) A copy of the official invitation letter will also be sent to the indicated contact person.
The brochure of the Eighth APhO has been previously distributed at the Seventh APhO in Almaty, Kazakhstan and at XXXVII IPhO in Singapore. We can send you the brochures by regular mail upon your request, or you may read related information at the web site of http://www.apho8.fudan.edu.cn. Please note that the detailed schedule has been modified slightly.
According to the Statutes of APhO, each team consists of not more than eight students and two accompanying leaders. The travel costs to and from Shanghai, China are the responsibility of each participating team. Once the team arrives, all costs of food, accommodation, and transportation associated with the Olympiad will be covered by the Organizing Committee. As an established custom in the International Physics Olympiad, each participating team is expected to contribute a voluntary fee of US$1,000. We warmly welcome observers and visitors who accompany their delegations. Observers will be charged by US$1,100 each and visitors US$1,000 each.
